Golden Hooves and Ocado Retail bring award-winning regenerative cheese to more UK shoppers

Regenerative food and drink innovator Golden Hooves has agreed an exclusive partnership with Ocado Retail, which will see two of its multi-award-winning cheeses going on sale via the online supermarket for the first time from 4 November.

As Ocado Retail responds to growing consumer demand for products with evidence-based sustainability credentials and champions food produced in ways that support nature, soil health and water, the retailer will welcome both Golden Hooves Smoked Cheddar and Double Gloucester to its dairy range. The two cheeses will join the challenger brand’s regenerative Salted Butter, which has been available through Ocado.com since its launch in late 2025.

Tying in with this exclusive partnership, Golden Hooves will also soon unveil its refreshed and streamlined packaging, featuring a new Free-Range logo. Backed by evidence showing that Golden Hooves cows have access to graze on pasture for 180+ days each year, the logo represents the brand’s fundamental commitment to grazing as part of a regenerative farming system, allowing cows to roam, socialise, forage, and exhibit natural behaviours.

This announcement from Golden Hooves comes just weeks after the release of the regenerative co-op’s latest annual Impact Report, which contains powerful data showing real change happening on the ground. Detailing a 3.8% decrease in net greenhouse gas emissions, an 8.2% reduction in farm carbon intensity, and a staggering 342,613 individual regenerative interventions taking place across nearly 100,000 hectares of farming land, the Report presents compelling evidence that shoppers don’t need to choose between quality and conscience.

Satisfyingly smoky, but always keeping next level cheddar centre stage, Golden Hooves Smoked Cheddar scooped the Best Welsh Cheese trophy at the British & Irish Cheese Awards 2026. While Golden Hooves’ newest cheese, the rich, nutty and buttery territorial-style, Double Gloucester, was named Supreme Champion at the International Cheese & Dairy Awards in 2023.

Leona McDonald, Director of Golden Hooves, commented:

“We believe everyone should have the choice to buy food that supports farmers, helps nature thrive, gives cows the opportunity to graze and tastes absolutely fantastic. So why isn't that easier to find? Golden Hooves brings together the best of British dairy, multi-award-winning quality and years of commitment to regenerative farming through First Milk. Our farmers are making real, measurable progress on carbon, soil health, water and biodiversity, backed by some of the most extensive data and evidence in the sector. Working with Ocado Retail means we can put that story in front of more shoppers, without asking them to compromise on taste. We're delighted to be working with a retailer that wants to celebrate what we're doing and help bring it to more people. This is cheese with a conscience – Real Cheese that gives a damn!”

Shelagh Hancock, First Milk Chief Executive, added:

“Golden Hooves is about showing that great-tasting dairy and great farming go hand in hand. Our farmers are driving real progress on their farms, working to regenerate the land, support nature and build a more sustainable future for dairy. We're incredibly proud of what they're achieving, and it's exciting to see Golden Hooves reaching more shoppers through Ocado.com. It's another important step in bringing the story of our farmers, and the fantastic food they produce, to a wider audience.”

Rich Sharpe, Senior Buyer at Ocado Retail, said:

“Golden Hooves brings together great taste and a tangible commitment to regenerative farming, backed by First Milk's work with its farmer members. We're pleased to support a challenger brand with a clear purpose and help make these products available to more of our customers.”

Emily West, Sustainability Manager at Ocado Retail, commented:

“First Milk's regenerative farming programme is impressive in both its scale and ambition. Having committed to this work several years ago, the co-operative and its farmer members have built a programme focused on measurable progress across carbon, soil health, water and biodiversity. Golden Hooves is a great example of how that work can translate into products that shoppers can enjoy, while supporting improvements on farm. We're pleased to see it joining Ocado's range alongside our wider work to support nature-friendly farming and supply chains.”

Golden Hooves Smoked Cheddar (200g) and Double Gloucester (200g) will be available to purchase from Ocado from 4 November.
