Lapin set for first London outing, with Beaujolais Nouveau soirée at The Buxton

Bristol-based French restaurant, Lapin will make its London debut on Thursday 19 November with a one-night Beaujolais Nouveau soirée at Shoreditch wine bar and hotel, The Buxton.

Marking the first time that Lapin has brought its dishes to London, the event will toast the release of the Beaujolais region’s Gamay grapes following this year’s harvest. Diners can expect an informal, standing party, with free flowing pours of the vibrant, fruity wine, accompanied by a menu created especially for the occasion.

Running the pass for one night only will be Lapin executive chef Jack Briggs-Horan and head chef Owen Seamark, while Lapin founder Dan O’Regan will be out front, on service with The Buxton team. The menu will include a selection of snacks, small plates and sweets, like Morteau sausage stuffed chicken wing with sauce charcutière, Rabbit, boudin noir and apple terrine with celeriac remoulade, Gnocchi Parisienne with wild mushrooms, black truffle and Madeira, and St emilion au chocolat with creme fraiche, prunes, and Armagnac.

The Buxton’s wine list, led by sommelier Heidi Knudsen, will offer guests the usual glass sizes, plus 75ml pours from just £5. A limited number of magnums will also be available for those looking to celebrate in true Beaujolais style. In addition to the new releases, the wine list will showcase the wider Beaujolais region with bottles from producers Romauld Valot, Elisa Guerin and Paul-Henri Thillardon.

Dan O’Regan, owner and founder of Lapin, commented:

“It’s always exciting to work with likeminded venues, and this collaboration with The Buxton felt like a very natural coming together of ideas and approaches. Wine has always been central to our offering at Wapping Wharf, and we love what The Buxton are doing with their list – keeping things carefully curated but approachable, and paired with well-sourced, seasonal food. After a year and a half in Bristol, we've had the opportunity to introduce Lapin to diners from all over the country, so it felt like the right time to take what we do to London for the first time. Jack and I jumped at the chance to take our pans on the road and serve up a special supper for the diners of Shoreditch.”

A collaboration of two neighbourhood hotspots with a shared love of French cooking, seasonal British produce and good wine, the event will be hosted at The Buxton from 5.30pm until late on Thursday 19 November – walk-ins only.
