Somerset’s White Lake Cheese wins two trophies and 15 awards at Great Yorkshire Show

White Lake Cheese took the top prize in two categories at the Great Yorkshire Show Cheese & Dairy Produce Championship this week, winning Best Raw Milk Cheese for its fresh, young goat's cheese, Glaston Tile, and Best Cheese With Added Flavour for Eve, a soft, goat's cheese washed in Somerset cider brandy and delicately wrapped in a vine leaf.

Adding to an incredible haul of silverware for the Somerset-based cheesemaker over the past 12 months, these latest trophies were accompanied by a further 15 prizes for 14 different cheeses. This follows three major trophies and 23 prizes at the British & Irish Cheese Awards 2026, two major trophies and 27 prizes at the Artisan Cheese Awards 2026, and a spot in the final at the World Cheese Awards 2025 last November.

Among the 15 category awards landed by Roger Longman and his team at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate, two went to brand new cheeses released earlier this month. This includes a Silver for Tuppence, a small but perfectly formed sheep’s cheese inspired by the French Crottin, and a Silver for Persian Gold, a lactic cheese in a jar made with Jersey cow’s milk and drenched in rapeseed oil infused with garlic, basil, and marjoram, with thyme and peppercorns to finish.

Other prizes included Golds for Sheep Rustler, Driftwood, Glaston Tile and Eve, Silver awards for Moo'dy Blue, English Goat Curd, Little She and Pavé Cobble, and Bronze accolades for Solstice, Tor and Shilling.

Roger Longman, owner and founder of White Lake Cheese, commented:

“We love travelling up to Harrogate each year for the Great Yorkshire Show, and these two incredible trophies have made the journey home even better. The Great Yorkshire Show is a great example of an agricultural event thriving in the modern world, with prestigious competitions and showpiece events on a massive scale, so we’re absolutely delighted to have done so well once again in the Cheese & Dairy Championship. Well done to the team here – the bar is raised every year in British cheese, so it’s always special to come out on top.”
