Golden Hooves launches Salted Butter, as regenerative movement spreads

Multi award-winning regenerative food brand, Golden Hooves, has launched its first ever butter, churned with the same deliciously regenerative milk as its mould-breaking range of speciality cheeses. Having been developed during the Big Food Redesign Challenge last year, Golden Hooves Salted Butter can now be found in the chillers at Waitrose, Booths and Ocado, ready to add a regenerative stomp of approval to everyday bakes, breakfasts and lunchboxes.

Rich, creamy and fresh, with a luxurious mouthfeel and sweetness from regeneratively farmed milk, this new Salted Butter from Golden Hooves has already wowed the judges at recent competitions. Having landed the much-coveted Supreme Champion trophy at the Royal Welsh Show earlier this year, the butter most recently scooped a Bronze prize at the International Cheese & Dairy Awards 2025.

Following the recent release of First Milk’s Impact report 24/25, from the farmer-owned dairy co-operative behind Golden Hooves, these incredible taste awards now go hand-in-hand with new and powerful evidence that real change is happening on the ground. Among some of the most exciting results detailed in the Report, are a 6% increase in land year-on-year within the co-op’s regenerative programme, up to 89,977 hectares, which would be comparable to 125,000 football pitches, and a potential 78% increase in carbon locked away in the soil, which could be up to 203,000 tonnes CO₂e – the equivalent of planting a staggering nine million trees.

As part of last year’s Big Food Redesign Challenge, created by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation in partnership with the Sustainable Food Trust, Golden Hooves Salted Butter benefited from the Design, Production and Retail phases of the ground-breaking scheme. Established to shake up the food industry and work towards better food systems that regenerate nature, the Big Food Redesign Challenge looked at all supply chains in rigorous detail, including the extensive, research-led regenerative programmes being implemented on First Milk farms.
