Live iron casting, a modern art cake stall and a ‘have-a-go’ graffiti wall are among the innovative attractions bringing a brand new fete-themed dimension to Frome’s popular Art Car Boot, celebrating its 10th anniversary on Sunday 12 July. Organiser, Black Swan Arts, has enlisted the support of Mount Art Services to oversee the entertainment at the Old Cattle Market Car Park from 10am-4pm, joining over 50 artists and designers who will have their creations on sale at the event.
With ceramics, prints, paintings, textiles, jewellery and much more on show, visitors have the chance to meet the makers face-to-face, while enjoying the Art Car Boot’s own unique take on the traditional summer fete. Frome’s Black Inc Tattoo Studio will be lending its artistic flair to the face painting stall, and those attending can try their hand at games including ‘pin the monobrow on the Frida’, a paper aeroplane competition and a coconut shy, run by Mount’s own Simon Keyte.
“The Art Car Boot has always been fantastic at bringing art lovers and artists together in an informal environment, so we thought the 10th anniversary was a great opportunity to build upon this success. The new interactive elements are all designed to make art more accessible to festivalgoers and ultimately bring the amazing works of local artists to a wider audience. We’ve even got buskers plying their trade throughout the day, in the true spirit of the Art Car Boot.”
The Art Car Boot is free to attend and will take place on the final day of Frome Festival, a vibrant community festival running from Friday 3 July to Sunday 12 July. Frome Festival attracts visitors from across the South West and features many events which are organised, hosted and promoted by local groups.
