Botanica Studio, a destination houseplant store in Bath, has been awarded a Silver Gilt medal for its debut Houseplant Studio exhibit at RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The Hanging Gardens of Botanica, which is on display in the Malvern Garden Buildings Houseplant Studios this week, was awarded this prestigious medal for pushing creative boundaries with its artistic vision, diversity and quality of plants and the unity, balance and scale.

Designed by Alice Dobie, founder of Botanica Studio, Alexanda Goodman, Eden Leo, Nadia Saddiq, Rosie Varley and Tom Varley, The Hanging Gardens of Botanica is inspired by themes including The Mythical Hanging Gardens of Babylon, global water bankruptcy and the sculptural scope of terracotta Bergs pots. Stepping inside this sensory space, which sees 12 vertical gardens suspended in Bergs pots, visitors are able to witness the interaction between plants and water, enjoying the calming trickle of precipitation, gentle aroma of moss as it wicks away and a cooling mist created by evaporation. Each irrigated hanging water garden celebrates a different plant genus that is popular within the houseplant community, including Philodendron, Monstera, Anthirium, Epiprenium and Alocasia.

Alice Dobie, founder of Botanica Studio, says:

“This was our first time at RHS Chelsea Flower Show, and we are incredibly proud to have been awarded a Silver Gilt at such a prestigious and world-renowned event. The Hanging Gardens of Botanica has required the combined effort and commitment of everyone at Botanica, and this medal is a real testament to the hard work and dedication of the whole team. I am so proud of how they have all pulled together on this journey and embraced the opportunity to showcase Botanica’s creativity, passion and knowledge, while putting our Bath shop firmly on the map, on this incredible international stage.”

The Hanging Gardens of Botanica is situated at site number AR705 in the Malvern Garden Buildings Houseplant Studios at RHS Chelsea Flower Show until Saturday 23 May.
